The Power of Pranayama

The Power of Breath: A Beginner’s Guide to Pranayama

Most of us think of yoga as physical poses (asanas), but there is a hidden engine behind every movement: the breath. In the yogic tradition, this practice is called Pranayama.

Derived from the Sanskrit words prana (life force) and yama (control or expansion), Pranayama is the art of conscious breathing to regulate your physical and mental state. Whether you are looking to de-stress after a long day or find more focus during work, these ancient techniques offer a simple, science-backed way to take control of your well-being.

As someone who is already a qualified Breathwork practitioner, to currently being taught by experienced yogis in India, this subject has already exceeded my expectations.

This morning during my first class (before sunrise) my teacher explained the benefits of practicing pranayama, “first learn to control your breath and then you will be able to control everything that follows.”

Something so simple yet so powerful can really have a transformational effect on our life.

If you wish to explore your breath further I offer both individual and group sessions. Please do contact me for more information.
